Dock Dogs and a New Toy!

This past weekend was the "Paws in the Park" Dock Dogs event in Pasadena TX. My friend and Red were entered, as well as some of Red's litter mates, Mojo and Gitchi. Being there, in person, was a ton of fun, I had only ever seen dock dogs on TV, so I was really excited to go. Everyone there was really supportive of all the other competitors and everyone was just having fun.

Red wasn't quit sure about this whole jumping thing! He had only jumped off the side of a pool (which he did with no hesitation), so this whole dock thing was a little scary. But the little guy over came his fear and jumped with..... style?.... grace?.... nope, he jumped with heart and humor!

 Red's second jump

Red's final and best jump of the day. He jumped 4 ft! I'd say he was getting the hang of it :)

One of Red's brothers, Mojo.

Mr. Mojo got 1st place in novice, with a jump of 9 ft.!

Red's sister, Gitchi. She was by far the most confident.

I'd say it was a great debut for the young pups and it was so much fun to watch!

On the way home we got a new toy for Riley and Grace, one of those treat dispenser ball toys (our old one has seen better days). I don't remember the name of the toy, I threw away the wrappings already.... I know real convenient. But anywho the dogs love it and they got to take turns playing with it.

Riley is a pro at these treat balls. If rolling it isn't giving him treats, he kicks it, that doesn't work, he throws it, and as a final result he will throw it down the stairs and gather the treats that fall out as he goes down.

Grace is a little more delicate, for now. She will just nudge it around or chew on it.

I put the difficulty level on easy for them the first time, and they both figured it out dang quick!

Dog fun filled afternoon

We are loving the warmer weather! 72'F, YES PLEASE! After a couple weeks of 20-30 degrees, freezing rain and ice, the dogs are welcoming this beautiful weather with wagging tails! Now, I know I can't complain too much, because I know some of my followers have it far worse/colder! (But, I must admit, I miss the snow (I'm a former Washingtonian) and I think Riley and Grace would love it). For now, us and the dogs are embracing this wonderful weather, because I know it won't last long before it'll be scorching hot/humid at 90-100 F, sigh.

Anyways, today, after I got back from morning errands, it was play time! I set up the short teeter and worked Riley for a bit, he is getting more confident each time he runs it :) I am slowly putting on taller and taller legs, and right now he is only about 8 inches up, progress is progress!

(This picture is before I decided on the shorter legs)

Next order of business was playing fetch with Grace! I say with Grace because Riley just wanted to chill after the teeter work. So with Riley laying off on the side, Grace and I played fetch/tug. I love the way she bounds after toys :)... Riley runs...Grace bounds! It is so cute to watch :) Sometimes she will even to one last big bound before she gets to the toy. I'll have to get a video of her doing it sometime.

After a wonderful afternoon outside, it was time to relax inside. As a special treat, I got the dogs bully sticks while out on my errands! I don't know if Grace has ever had one before, but she loved it! As did Riley :)

Christmas Biscuits!

Today, after all house hold chores were done, I made Christmas biscuits for Riley. I found a recipe online and decided to try it out. Now, don't laugh, but I had to taste them :) They smelled like peanut butter but tasted like flour/nothing LOL Riley doesn't seem to care one bit, but next time I wanna try a different recipe. From now on I am going to try and make my own treats :) These were super easy and the others I read seemed just as easy.

Uncooked treats, just waiting on the oven!

Hey Mom, what are these? Are these for me?!

They smell GOOD!

 Finished product!
They smell good, but don't have much taste (to me) but Riley loves them.

Hubby came in from outside and said "Oooo whatcha making? Smells good! Oh, dog treats".... he pauses...."Can I eat one?"

Is this what you've been waiting for?

You have to wait and be a good boy.
"Sigh"

Ok, here ya go :) Enjoy!

Can I have more? Please?

Ooo crumbs
Riley loved them, but then again he will eat just about anything. Next time I am going to try out a different recipe and give my review :)
